How ScoutMe uses cookies and similar technologies for operation, security, analytics, performance and, where applicable, marketing and advertising.

1. INTRODUCTION

This Cookie Policy explains how ScoutMe (“ScoutMe”, “Platform”, “we” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when users access or use the website, Progressive Web App (PWA), and other digital services related to ScoutMe.

This Policy should be read together with ScoutMe’s Privacy and Data Protection Policy and ScoutMe’s Terms of Use.

The purpose of this document is to explain, clearly and transparently, which technologies may be used, for what purposes, what information may be collected, and what options are available to users.

The processing of personal data related to the use of cookies will observe, where applicable, Law No. 13,709/2018 — Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD) and other applicable regulations.

  • maintaining authenticated sessions;

  • improving features and user experience;
  • measuring awareness and user acquisition campaigns;
  • supporting marketing activities, where applicable.

In addition to cookies themselves, ScoutMe may use technologies with similar functions, such as local storage, identifiers, pixels, tags, and equivalent technologies.

In this Policy, these technologies may collectively be referred to as “cookies”.

3. WHO USES COOKIES?

Cookies may be used directly by ScoutMe or by technology providers contracted to assist with the operation, security, analysis, and improvement of the Platform.

ScoutMe currently expects to use Google Analytics for statistical analysis and to understand how the Platform is used.

Other tools may be added in the future. If this occurs, this Policy and, where necessary, the consent mechanism will be updated.

ScoutMe may use the following categories of cookies:

4.1. Essential and security cookies

These cookies are necessary to enable the proper and secure operation of the Platform.

They may be used, for example, for:

  • maintaining login status;

  • fraud prevention;

  • protection against attacks;
  • operation of forms;

  • load balancing;
  • operation of essential Platform features.

Technically disabling these cookies may prevent or impair ScoutMe from functioning.

4.2. Analytics and performance cookies

These cookies help ScoutMe understand how the Platform is being used.

For this purpose, ScoutMe may use Google Analytics.

Analytics cookies that are not strictly necessary for the operation of the Platform must be used in accordance with the applicable legal basis and the consent choices made available to the user.

4.3. Marketing and advertising cookies

ScoutMe may use marketing and advertising cookies to understand campaign effectiveness, measure user acquisition and, in the future, provide more relevant communications or advertising.

These cookies may be used to:

  • measure advertising campaigns;
  • identify the source of new visits;
  • evaluate conversions;
  • limit repeated advertisements;
  • understand campaign effectiveness;
  • create marketing metrics;
  • support promotional campaigns;

6. FIRST-PARTY AND THIRD-PARTY COOKIES

Cookies used on ScoutMe may be classified as:

First-party cookies: set directly by ScoutMe and used for operation, security, authentication, preferences, and other Platform features.

Third-party cookies: set or accessed by technology providers integrated with the Platform, such as analytics services.

The use of third-party services may result in certain information being processed by those providers, in accordance with the settings adopted by ScoutMe and the respective applicable policies.

7. COOKIE CONSENT

When first accessing ScoutMe, the user may see a notice or banner informing them about the use of cookies.

Where consent is the applicable legal basis, non-essential cookies must only be used after the user has validly expressed consent.

Consent must be freely given, informed, and unambiguous, in accordance with applicable law.

ScoutMe may technically record the user’s choice to avoid repeatedly displaying the notice and, where necessary, to demonstrate consent management.

Where processing is based on consent, the user may later change their preferences or withdraw consent.

Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out previously while consent was valid.

ScoutMe may provide an option such as “Cookie Settings” or an equivalent feature to allow users to manage their preferences.

Users may also control certain cookies directly through their browser or device settings.

Deleting or blocking essential cookies may impair certain ScoutMe features.

9. RETENTION PERIOD

Cookies may be classified according to their duration.

Session cookies

Remain active during a particular session and are normally deleted or cease to be valid after the session ends.

Persistent cookies

Remain stored for a specified period or until removed by the user, browser, ScoutMe, or the relevant provider.

Retention periods may vary according to:

  • technical necessity;
  • configuration of the tool used;
  • legal obligations;

  • settings of the providers involved.

ScoutMe will seek to avoid retaining cookies and associated information for periods longer than necessary for their respective purposes.

10. DATA OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

ScoutMe may be used by athletes under 18 years of age, subject to the conditions established in the Platform’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

For this reason, ScoutMe will pay special attention to the use of cookies and tracking technologies involving children and adolescents.

The processing of personal data of children and adolescents must observe their best interests, in accordance with applicable Brazilian law.

Where necessary, ScoutMe may implement specific authorization, consent, or parental/legal guardian participation mechanisms.

ScoutMe must avoid using data from children and adolescents for behavioral advertising or creating advertising profiles incompatible with their best interests.

ScoutMe will seek to limit collection to the minimum necessary for the respective purposes.

Where applicable, ScoutMe will adopt measures intended to ensure that international transfers of personal data are carried out in accordance with the LGPD, regulations of the Brazilian National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), and other applicable rules.

13. SECURITY

ScoutMe will adopt reasonable technical and administrative measures intended to protect cookie-related information against unauthorized access, destruction, loss, alteration, communication, or inappropriate or unlawful processing.

However, no system connected to the internet can guarantee absolute security.

14. DATA SUBJECT RIGHTS

Where information associated with cookies constitutes personal data under the LGPD, data subjects may exercise the rights provided by applicable law.

Depending on the circumstances, these rights may include:

  • confirmation of the existence of processing;
  • access to data;
  • correction of incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data;
  • anonymization, blocking, or deletion in the circumstances provided by law;
  • portability, where applicable;
  • information about sharing;
  • information about the possibility of withholding consent;
  • withdrawal of consent;
  • deletion of data processed with consent, subject to legal retention exceptions;
  • objection to processing, where applicable.

Requests related to data protection must follow the channels made available by ScoutMe in its Privacy Policy.

15. BROWSER SETTINGS

Most browsers allow users to view, block, or delete cookies.

Available settings vary depending on the browser and device used.

Blocking cookies generally may affect features that depend on these technologies, including authentication, session maintenance, and Platform preferences.

For this reason, caution is recommended when blocking essential cookies.

16. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

This Policy may be updated periodically to reflect:

  • changes to the Platform;
  • implementation of new technologies;
  • addition or replacement of providers;
  • changes in processing purposes;
  • legal or regulatory changes;
  • guidance from the ANPD;
  • improvements to privacy and security practices.

Where a material change affects choices previously made by the user, ScoutMe may present a new notice or request renewed consent where necessary.

The current version will be identified by its last updated date.

Complete information about the controller, legal representative and/or Data Protection Officer (DPO), once defined, must appear in the Privacy Policy and may be incorporated into this Policy.

This Policy will be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, especially:

  • Law No. 13,709/2018 — Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD);
  • Law No. 12,965/2014 — Brazilian Civil Rights Framework for the Internet;
  • regulations and guidance issued by the Brazilian National Data Protection Authority (ANPD);
  • other applicable Brazilian regulations.

19. FINAL PROVISIONS

This Policy forms part of ScoutMe’s set of legal documents and must be interpreted together with the Platform’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

If a particular ScoutMe feature uses cookies or tracking technologies that require specific consent, supplementary notices may be presented before those technologies are activated.
